Features of This Grade Curve Calculator

  1. Multiple Curving Methods:
    • No Curve (original grades)
    • Linear Scale (adjusts all grades to reach a desired average)
    • Highest Score to Maximum (bumps all grades up so the highest reaches the max)
    • Flat Curve (adds fixed points to all grades)
    • Bell Curve (adjusts based on standard deviation)
  2. Input Options:
    • Paste or type grades (comma or space separated)
    • Set maximum possible grade (default 100)
    • Parameters for each curving method
  3. Results Display:
    • Table showing original grade, curved grade, and difference
    • Statistics for both original and curved grades (mean, min, max, standard deviation)
    • Color-coded differences (green for positive, red for negative)
  4. User-Friendly Interface:
    • Clean, responsive design
    • Dynamic display of options based on selected method
    • Input validation and error messages
    • Reset functionality

How It Works

  1. The calculator first parses the input grades and validates them
  2. It calculates statistics (mean, standard deviation, etc.) for the original grades
  3. Based on the selected method, it applies the appropriate curve:
    • Linear Scale: Adjusts all grades by the same amount to reach the desired average
    • Highest Score: Adds the difference between max grade and highest score to all grades
    • Flat Curve: Adds a fixed number of points to all grades
    • Bell Curve: Uses z-score transformation to adjust grades to the target mean and standard deviation
  4. It then displays both the original and curved grades with statistics
